The Case of Reparations is a Multimedia Article that was written in The Atlantic in 2014 by Ta-Nehisi Coates. The article was about the hardships African Americans face when it comes to redlining and housing discrimination in America. 


Who is Ta-Nehisi Coates? He was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and attended Howard University. His dad William Pall Coates, was a former Black Panther. An author, activist, and journalist who gained recognition during his time as a national correspondent at the Atlantic where he wrote an extensive article centered on reparations and the cultural, social, and political issues that African American Americans face and white supremacy.


When he wrote ‘The Case of Reparations’ in the Atlantic he spoke his case to people in power that African Americans deserve reparations. 


"Until we reckon with our compound moral debts, America will never be whole”. 


Until America considers and adds a sense of the wrongs it has done and continues to do towards African Americans, it will never be a whole. 


Author Ta-Nehisi Coates and actor Danny Glover open a case regarding slavery reparations. 

Coates also criticized the comments Senate Majority Leader Mith McConnell made opposing reparations.
